The start of his summer

I love summer. It's only just begun, but around here we have started off our summer off the right way...

by eating ice cream cones and taking trips to the farmers market,

playing with cousins and falling asleep in swings on warm afternoons,

playing in the pool on Nana & Papa's back deck and giving Great Mama's bunny statue kisses and pets,

by enjoying sweet, ripe fruit and falling asleep cuddled up to daddy on the couch after a hard day of playing outside,

playing t-ball and running in sprinklers in the backyard and just chillin' out in the grass,

and indulging in Momma's pregnancy sweet tooth by eating cupcakes with pirates on them.

Gonna be a good summer!

27 weeks

saw this Q&A on another blog and thought it looked like a good idea...

How far along: 27 weeks

Baby's size: almost 2 pounds, the size of a large head of cauliflower and about 14 1/2 inches long - according to the baby sites.

Sleep: waking up about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but still being able to get comfy with my big ole body pillow. The dog and a certain little boy's feet make it harder to sleep though the night.

Food cravings: veggie sandwiches with cream cheese, coffee yogurt, watermelon, lemon bars, and cookies of any kind.

Food aversions: pizza and taco bell. Any guesses as to why?

Maternity Clothes: lots of tank tops and maxi skirts and dresses. Ordered a cute dress for my baby shower this week online :)

How I'm feeling: tired, but good. Not so happy that I appear to have caught my 6th cold of this pregnancy. My immune system is just shot!

Doctor’s Appointment: next week. This week I am scheduled to take the dreaded 2 hour glucose tolerance test...boo.

Movement: much more the last couple weeks, still feel her mostly lower on my sides, but I get an occasional kick higher near my stomach. My placenta is front and center so it makes it harder to feel her.

Best moment of the week: Aiden wanting to look at the ultrasound picture on the fridge and saying "baby sister", then pointing out all her body parts - baby belly, head, nose, mouth. Too cute.

What I’m looking forward to: how big my belly will be at 32, 34 and 36 weeks ;)

Thoughts of the week: It's a really weird feeling knowing that I am now at the same point in my pregnancy that I had Aiden at - he was born at 27 weeks and 1 day. I still remember all the rate of survival for each week of pregnancy. It's weird to know exactly what a 27 week old baby looks like. For fun I broke out one of my only 2 "bump" pictures I have from my pregnancy with Aiden to compare - what a difference! The picture on the left was taken in the hospital pregnant with Aiden at 26 weeks and 4 days (see the teeny, tiny bump!), and picture on the right was taken at 26 weeks and 4 days with our baby girl!

And lastly, this is an outtake of my 27 week belly photo - Sophie jumped up on the couch and sat down right as the camera clicked. Guess she needed a stunning photo of herself to email to all her online doggy boyfriends.

Rewind --> Spring day at the zoo

I have a couple posts that I need to do to catch up, so I am lovingly calling them my "rewind" posts. The first one is from a Saturday in April that we had nothing to do, so we decided to take Aiden to the Folsom zoo. Which is one of his favorite places, he asks constantly to "go see animals at the zoo". He loves the train and the park there, too. Of course, the best time to go is when the weather is nice, but not hot - otherwise all the animals will be sleeping ;)

Aiden charging ahead and waiting for us to catch up, the "box" (Aiden can't pronounce f's yet!)

Always one of his favorites - the chickens!

Sleeping tigers which Aiden roared at to try to wake up

Trying to get his hand in dad's mouth?

The peacocks put on a show as usual

Lazy wolf

The mountain lions were pretty active at least!

Sleepy bear

Aiden watching the bear, and posing as one (he was "roaring" in this picture)

He was so excited for his turn to look like a bear - I don't think he wanted to get out!

Momma gets kisses for taking Aiden to the zoo :)

The train ride - I stayed back and Aiden was not too happy about that - when the train passed by he put his arms out to grab me

Not a great picture of Aiden - but nice to have a pic of all 3 of us on our day out!

Aiden at 3

Our little preschooler has grown up so much since he turned 3. School has been really good for him, he has learned a lot about the basics - how to react when other kids are upset or playing, how to sit still for a few minutes in a chair and how to listen when someone tells him to stop or come here (ok, were still working on that). To think of how apprehensive I was about sending him to school at 3 makes me laugh now, because he really enjoys it, actually asks to go to school and I have seen some great changes in him.

He is still quite the little singer and has expanded from rocking the preschool classics to nailing the exact tune of radio songs - drum beat and all. His current favorites include anything by Adele, anything sung by Elmo or Cookie Monster, and a couple random songs from the radio "We are Young" and "Tongue Tied" are currently big on his play list. He knows songs that I don't even know, I will hear him sing and realize the song sounds familiar. He still loves playing his instruments, too. I think music is where his creative outlet is - because the kid has no desire to color or paint ;)

He also repeats things he hears like crazy - mostly from watching baseball games on TV. The other day he asked for pizza and when I gave it to him, he sat down and said "round table, the last honest pizza" (the pizza was from Pizza Guys by the way). He likes to repeat slogans - we hear "that's the power or home depot" a lot and the other night while we were laying in bed he said "Mama, Daddy, Aiden and Subway - eat fresh". His recent favorite line is "Giants baseball on Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area is brought to you in part by Jack in the Box". The kid has a crazy memory for that type of stuff and likes to watch the game with Daddy - he will chant along with the crowd saying "let's go giants!"

He loves to play outside - especially now that there is water involved. He loves to slide, swing and play in the rocks with his trucks and little shovels. He loves his splash table, running in the sprinkler and although he doesn't like sitting in his little pool, he loves to splash and crawl through it. He loves to go to the park and climb around on the playground equipment, but loves to run around the playground and in the grass even more (I think that might be because our yard is so small...haha). He is getting more adventurous on the "big" slides every day.

He asks every day to go see someone. He is constantly asking to go see Aunt Sara, Logan, Tanner and Chase. He wants to go see Addison and Ryan and Aunt Lisa. Or Nana and Papa John. Or Grandma and Papa. Or Uncle Buck (Adam). Some days it's "wanna go see great mama?" and some days he just leaves it at "wanna go see cousins today?" It's pretty cute. He likes being around his family, but some days I have to make things up to get him understand that we can't go see someone today - like "Addison is at school right now".

He still loves books, trains, cars and loves playing on our iPhones. The kid can navigate my phone better than I can and knows how to play every game and find all the pictures. Of course, we still struggle with food and he still has a very small range of foods - hemp milk, pizza, burritos, peanut butter crackers are the staples. He is getting better about trying new things - he will eat spaghetti and chinese or thai noodles, an ice cream cone, french bread, french fries/tater tots dipped in ketchup and tacos. In some ways he eats like a regular, picky little toddler now.

He is such a sweetheart. He loves hugs and kisses - he is very affectionate. He is very attached to his Momma - but loves to play and go to home depot with Daddy, too. I can't wait to see what he is like with his little sister. I think it will be a tough transition for him, he's so used to being the center of attention, I think at first there will be a lot of "bye bye baby!" "see ya later baby!" and "all done baby!" but I think eventually he will be glad to have a playmate. Or at least I will be ;)

I love this kid so much that sometimes I wonder how I am going to love a new baby as much as I love him, but I KNOW that I will and I am looking forward to having two little ones to play with, cuddle with and love on all day :)

Once again, thank you Pinterest!

Stumbled on this little idea on Pinterest the other day and boy am I glad I did! All the supplies cost less than $10 and it took about 10 minutes to put together - it's a sprinkler made from PVC pipe or a "kid wash". It's about 5 feet tall so it is perfect for running under or riding bikes through. Aiden loves it and it beats fighting the crowds and weird reclaimed water at the playground water features!  I don't think we will need to give him baths all summer...haha ;)

The directions to make it can be found here.

Even big "kids" like it :)

Instagram update

Haven't been that great about remembering my camera when going places or taking it out to snap photos - thank goodness for camera phones and my favorite app, Instagram. Here is a download of my favorite Instagram pics from the last few months...my apologies in advance for the amount of pictures of food there are ;)

Playing in the snow at Nana and Papa's - he actually really liked it

Who has on the more appropriate snow shoes?

A snowy drive home, Ask Jeremy...we have belgian waffles with fruit and whipped cream every weekend

First fat lip, first Thai food ;)

 Spring at the park

Me and my little buddy, Spring flowers

Aiden and Jeremy watching TV, cravings - mexican food and sweets

Giving my family the news that they are getting a baby girl - brought up a box of cupcakes and let them open them, if the cupcakes in the box were green it was a boy, pink for girl :)

Belly at 19 weeks (I can't take a normal "phone self portrait"), Warm weather = water play for Aiden

Baby girl items! Love these Pink Uggs from Aunt Sandy and a dress my mom made for her cousin's baby 30 years ago, she saved it and gave it to me for my little one :)

Aiden loves his giants hat and cool sunglasses, my mother's day presents from Aiden

Another craving - had to make a pumpkin pie in May, My pretty peonies only bloom for a week

More sweets - ice cream sundae with caramel from Leatherby's, this should have been my first clue that we were having a girl! With Aiden I wanted comfort food like mac and cheese and mashed potatoes...

Aiden loves when Jeremy plays guitar for him, he sings "old macdonald" while Jeremy plays Pink Floyd

Aiden, me and the 22 week bump, Funny faces!
