catch up

I'm so far behind in my posts it's just not even funny :) So, let me do a little catching up in one post...

3 months

  • Ayla smiles more often, but it is hard to get her to smile - we have to work for it!
  • She has discovered her feet and is working diligently to get them into the appropriate place, which is of course, her mouth.
  • Weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz. and was 21 1/2" long at her last appointment
  • Moved up to a size 1 diaper and wears size 0-3 month clothing for the most part - although newborn pajamas still fit her just fine!
  • Celebrated her first Thanksgiving and I am happy to report that she had no tummy problems over the meal - she was having problems when I would eat diary - and I ate lots of dairy and she was ok!
  • She is a great little sleeper these days (this will change as you read my 4 month update - ha!) with the norm being down at 8:30pm, waking to eat at 5:30am and then back to sleep til around 9am. Mom likes this schedule!
  • She is not a big fan of floor time of any kind, but is learning to tolerate it and started to try to roll over.
  • Her likes include being held, rocking and cuddling to sleep with Momma, getting her diaper changed, bath time (really any time she is naked she is happy!) and breastfeeding
  • Dislikes are being put down, being in the carseat, people trying to give her a pacifier, and noise when she's trying to sleep (like big brother screaming).

  • Teething has begun! Ayla pretty much has something in her mouth and drool on her little chin at all times! Her favorite toy is the Sophie the Giraffe teether I bought before Aiden was born :)
  • Finally figured out that rolling over thing! She rolled for the first time from back to tummy, but has not figured out tummy to back - which I think is opposite of most babies!
  • Laughed for the first time at her brother and then again at me - she has a quiet little laugh and can be missed if your not paying attention.
  • She still loves her feet and finally got those little toes into her mouth...it makes her so happy. When she is lying on her back or sitting on one of us she likes to push the bottoms of her feet together. The girl loves her feet :)
  • Decided sleeping is no longer her thing. Mommy doesn't like her new sleeping pattern very much at all. On an average night she wakes up at least 4-5 times to eat. She has what I call "severe boobie addiction" and just plain doesn't like being away from them.
  • She hates being strapped into anything - the carseat, the baby carrier, the swing...she hates being restrained! She loves her new floor activity gym though and will bat and talk to the little hanging animals for quite a while.
  • Still wearing 0-3 month clothes but can fit into some of her 3-6 month stuff - it's still pretty big on her though.
  • Celebrated her first Christmas and New Years Eve :)
  • She is somewhat of a mommy's girl (a side effect of boobie addiction) but has really started to bond with Daddy now that he is home alone with her for few days a week since I had to go back to work. Boo on work, but yay on a little father-daughter-Aiden bonding.
5 months

  • At her last appointment she weighed 11 lbs. 5 oz. and was 23 1/2" long - she's a growing girl! She can be best described as petite, but not skinny, she has fabulous little rolls on her thighs and her ankles and wrists have all but disappeared ;) I love it!
  • She is quite a talker, she is usually always making noise - most of the time it is pretty loud noise!
  • It is easy to make her smile, but she really makes you work for a laugh - she doesn't do it very often and most often it is at her brother.
  • Speaking of Aiden, she is very interested in him lately! And he is more interested in her - they are forming a little relationship and I think it is so sweet :) He calls her "baby sister", "my baby" or "my Ayla" and will tell her "it's ok, pretty girl" when she is upset. The other night he said "I love you Ayla. Your so cute!". I die.
  • Diaper changes have become a struggle to remove her feet from her mouth in order to get her diaper and pants back on ;)
  • She is continuing her poor sleeping patterns. She will only sleep by herself for about 2 hours and then wants in bed with me. Often she wakes up every hour all night long to eat for about 5 minutes. It's not much fun for mom.
  • Ayla finally appreciates a little time on her tummy and is working on getting her little body off the ground.
  • No teeth yet - but I see em'! She is definitely working on them - just ask all of her toys :)
  • She now rolls over back to front, front to back, over and over...
  • She loves sitting up and can sit with very minimal support. She is growing up too fast!
And lastly, here are a couple pictures that Aiden decided to sit in on. It's very difficult to get them into the same picture and it not be blurry or include one of them screaming. So, while they are not the best pictures, I am just glad to have them both in one shot!
