Addison and Ryan

Since Aunt Lisa sent out the announcements, that means I get to post these.

I have been waiting.

Because they are just so darn cute.

Seriously.

Ryan and Addison. This is my favorite picture.

Addison is a tiny little thing. I think she will be very sociable, and very photogenic - she was awake and posing the whole time we were taking pictures. She will be very well dressed and I can't wait to have tea parties with her and play barbies.

The older sister...
She is so adorable. She looks like her momma.

Ryan is such a little cutie. He is laid back and just chills. I am so happy that he is here. He and Aiden will be best buddies, I can't wait to watch them get into trouble together and make mischief. Somehow, I think their daddies will be involved in the trouble making, too.

And this handsome little man looks like his daddy.
Sleepy boy.

How cool it must be to have an instant family of four. A mini Lisa and a mini Chris. Lots of new family traditions and "firsts" to come for them.

Sweet babies.
So sweet how they cuddle up together.

Congratulations again to the "other Nicolls family" :)

Who needs toys?

Aiden enjoys playing in the bathroom lately, I don't know why. Maybe it is a boy thing. I guess it was only a matter of time until this happened...

I think he got about half a roll, good thing Costco sells TP in bulk :)

Coloring

Today I decided to try out Aiden's artistic abilities and finally broke out the crayons that he got in his Easter basket. At first he was more interested in the plastic case they came in.

Then he just looked at the crayons, wondering what to do with them, so I decided to get him started and wrote "I heart Aiden".

Then he started to pick them up and hit them against the paper, he was surprised to see that he made little colored spots and he scribbled a little bit.

Finally he decided coloring didn't interest him and it was more fun to bite the crayons, because that is how he rolls these days ;)

Time for bed...

It's 10:30pm. I wanna go to bed. Sadly, I am the only one who wants to go to bed. This little man is showing no sign of sleep. At first he was content to sit in our bedroom and play with his toes.

Then he moved on to the bathroom. And learned how to flush the toilet...greeeaat. Then he wanted to look at some magazines, so he stood at the magazine rack for a while.

Then he went into his room and got into the closet. So far, I would say half the books are on the floor.

But, he is still working on it. Oh, and somewhere along the way he lost his pants.

They don't make baby Ambien, do they?

Do you think it means he is done with lunch when he mashes up his sandwich into little balls, takes them off his tray and puts them on the corner of the kitchen table?

A boy after my own heart...

My mom and I made these peanut butter cheerio cookies the other day. Since Aiden is so into cheerios lately, I thought he would really dig these cookies, and they are super easy. This is what it looked like when I gave it to Aiden...

Yummy, A big ball of peanuty, chocolatey chip goodness.

He quietly ate it for a little while and pretty soon he let out the "I'm done" yell.

This is what I found after he was done. Notice anything missing?

Um, yeah. The kid ate all the chocolate chips out of it and left the rest on his tray :)

The Sippy Cup Saga

I just want to share my failed attempts to get rid of the bottle and get my child to drink from a cup. Any cup. A sippy cup. A straw cup. A coffee cup. Whatever. I just don't want him to be drinking from bottles anymore.

I have tried water. Juice. Milk. Vanilla Protein shakes. Smoothies. Yogurt thinned with water. Fruit nectar. Juice boxes (maybe would like the novelty of the little carton and tiny straw?!?!). None of it appeals to him.

I have been patient. I have tried just being happy that after struggling to get him to drink from a bottle for the first few months of his life that he drinks from one now with such great enjoyment. I have tried every sippy cup on the market. I have proof.

There are more. This is just what I could find quickly.

I have taken to putting various types of sippy cups in places that Aiden will find them, where he plays so that he associates them with fun. Like here.

And here.

and even here.

On the rare occasion that he actually puts one in his mouth, I clap, I cheer, I jump up and down - I make a such a big fuss, you would think he just scored the winning touchdown at the superbowl! And all I get is this look....

The "And what is it that you want me to do with that thing, mom???" look.

Help me. What do I do next? I need ideas before I spend all Aiden's college fund on sippy cups and straws!

They are so tiny and cute. When you hold them they just cuddle right in and sleep. And the VERY few times we heard them cry, it was a such a sweet little sound. I can't wait to hold them again!

Congratulations to Momma Lisa and Daddy Chris on your precious little ones!

Sunday Breakfast

This morning I got up and made my family recipe for buttermilk pancakes. I added bananas & chocolate chips to Aiden's pancakes and let him go for it. The result was this....

There was chocolate and bits of pancake everywhere. Arms, legs, hair, inside his ear. Even inside his diaper. So, it was an early bath day.

Followed by an hour of Aiden's favorite game - "I won't let you get me dressed". The kid loves being naked. As soon as a diaper or clothes appear - he is gone.

Hmmmm...now what should we do for the rest of the day?

Aiden's First Swim in Folsom Lake

Swimming. Picnics. Ice cream. The lake. No doubt about it, summer is fun.

We took Aiden to Folsom lake for the first time the other day. It is just minutes away from our house and somewhere that I am sure we will spend more and more time at as Aiden gets older. The lake is really full right now so the water is pretty shallow pretty far out and there are big rocks and little islands everywhere to hang out on.

Aiden did not want to get out of the water! He had a great time splashing around and kept trying to get away from us to swim on his own - he definitely has NO FEAR of the water so we will have to watch him extra carefully around pools and even our pond. He stayed in so long that his fingers and toes got all pruney and he kept looking at them funny wondering what was going on!

Hangin' with daddy

Splash! Splash!

Sitting on a rock in the lake with daddy - lovin' the water and showing off his new teeth!

2nd Trip to Lake Tahoe

We have not been up to Tahoe in a year and I was just dying to take a little trip up to the mountains. Last time we went up, Aiden was still on oxygen and we couldn't get out much. This trip I wanted to take Aiden out, so we went to the beach, lots of walks, shopping, out to pizza and to the ice cream parlor. Momma, Daddy and Uncle Adam even had a night out to have a few drinks at the casinos. So...um....when can we go back up?

This was Aiden's first trip to a beach, he like the water as long as someone was holding onto him, it was windy and we didn't stay that long. The water was not too bad - If I had a swimsuit, I would have gone in!

He liked walking in the sand and the little waves, he didn't really like sitting in the sand though.

A cute family shot standing in the water:)

The next day we went for a walk on the trail by Camp Richardson and to the stream profile. It was so nice to get outside and enjoy the day!

Papa John, Great Mama, Daddy and Nana Robyn on the trail by the river

When Aiden got tired of being in his stroller Daddy gave him a ride on his shoulders!

A fish at the stream profile

We went on this trail last year during our visit also, so of course we had to take a picture on the same bench that we took one last year, here is last years pic....

And here is this year!
After we got a work out on the trail (ha!) we stopped at the toy store so Papa John could buy Aiden a toy (a Tahoe tradition for the Walshaw grandbabies) and then my grandma took us out for ice cream at a really cute little ice cream shop called the Red Hut Soda Fountain. The girls at the ice cream shop taught me how to do the "whip cream trick"...don't ask, but try it if your ever up in Tahoe ;)

A Momma Sundae, Daddy sundae and an Aiden Sundae...

A great Mama and an Uncle Adam Sundae...

Daddy, determined to eat his entire sundae...they were so good

Needless to say, we had a great time. Awesome weather, awesome food, and awesome family :)
